Accounting/Finance - Accountant/Senior Accountant Corporate Accounts & Projects (SAGI)

Job Description

The successful candidate will join the Corporate Accounts & Projects Department in SIA Finance Division. You will be responsible for accounting and financial reporting functions for both SIA and our subsidiary, Singapore Aviation and General Insurance Company (SAGI).

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting functions of Singapore Aviation and General Insurance Company ﴾SAGI﴿

• Provide full spectrum of accounting services to SAGI by maintaining the full set of accounts, and ensuring that the records are properly maintained and comply with regulatory requirements

• Report flash and actual results to SIA every month, based on stipulated timeline issued by SIA

• Prepare quarterly Financial Review and Investment Review papers for submission to SAGI Board

• Prepare/review quarterly and annual Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) reports/surveys

• Ensure smooth accounting operations for SAGI with minimal accounting issues/problems

• Review adequacy of insurance reserves

• Scrutinise processes and identify areas of improvements, be it in terms of internal controls or efficiency

• Liaise with external auditors for annual statutory audit

• Prepare annual financial statements for SAGI

• Evaluate the impact of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) 17 Insurance Contracts on financials of SAGI, with the help of consultants and auditors

• Implementation of IFRS 17 wef 1 April 2023

• Module owner for SAP modules relating to SAGI

Financial reporting functions of Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA)

• Assessment of expected credit loss (“ECL”) of financial assets for the purposes of IFRS 9 accounting

• Assist with preparation of SIA Annual Report, such as, drafting of notes to the accounts and proofreading

• Prepare and propose interim and final dividends for SIA Group

Development of staff

• Complete performance development tasks for staff

• Coach staff on more challenging assignments, to develop their skillset


• Any adhoc tasks or projects as may be assigned


• Minimum a degree in Accountancy

• Minimum 2 years of working experience, preferably related to financial reporting

• Experience with SAP an advantage
